Why there’s gotta be a Black version of a White personage in cinema, for example? Black James Bond, Black Fairy Godmother, Black Etcetera? By doing so, aren’t we only enabling/enhancing the racial inequality that is supposed to be the goal of such a pop culture reimagining? The Black version merely lurks in the shadow of the original White template. Why not instead create an original Black persona based on Black reality vis a vis White et al world? Does it make sense? 🤨🧐🤨
A long time ago, as I kickstarted my journalism career while still in high school, I said that all I cared about was that my mother read my articles. That’s what mattered. 21st century media. Or social media. Everybody writes, posts, reports, and issues opinions. We got thousands on our Friends list. Or more “cross-reading,” probably. Yet what matters to me is for a few people, maybe 4, who read my work, regularly—than hundreds who simply “scan,” like, and share.✍️✍️✍️
The United States is the world’s #1 most depressed nation. I didn’t believe that fact when I first got here but after many years of living in the U.S.A., I get it. Sadness isn’t parallel with what I was born into in the islands where most problems are gut-level. It took me years to accept the mental “lostness” that I was unknowingly wrestling with. Hence, without sports on TV, streaming series, dogs and cat, and real friendships, I don’t know if I’d ever survive in America. 🐕💞🐈
U.S. tossing more money via military aid to a war. Inflation at 8.5 percent. Gasoline at $4+. Many gut-level matters to talk about. Yet we are more concerned with Johnny and Amber and Elon. The last president was shamed for his crass personality over his economic performance. These days, not a lot are even talking about billions$ for arms “help” to Ukraine over the fact that Covid recovery hasn’t really been pursued yet. No one talks about Zelensky’s “secret assets.”⛽️💉💰
Dogs’ sense of loyalty and sensibility to follow a habit are sweetly startling. Arrow sleeps with me. Sometimes she goes down to the living room couch—but she never fails to go up to my bed in the morning before I finally wake up. And she refuses to climb out of my bed unless I do. Arrow also keeps still when we are watching a movie, on a nap, or in front of the computer. But when she notices that we are free, she will grab a stuffed toy and offer to play tug. Dogs! 🐕💓🐕
I absolutely don’t concur with the banning of Russian and Belarusian tennis players from participating in Wimbledon, set to start on June 27—on account of the obvious. Same as I never agreed with economic sanctions of countries deemed “rogue,” such moves only punish innocent people who are not part of their country’s leadership. Sanctions and embargos only heighten hate amongst peoples than narrow the gap that divides us—on the way to lasting peace.☮️☮️☮️
Trevor Reed, a former Marine who was jailed in Russia since 2019, figured in a “prisoner exchange” for a Russian drug trafficker. Mr Reed was a bodyguard of President Biden. What about Brittney Griner who is still held in Russia in an alleged drug case? I don’t think the WNBA star will go through the same process. She will be released soon without a Russian prisoner as a deal. For that to happen, smart media needs to hush a bit and let official emissaries talk things out.☮️☮️☮️
From 2016 to 2020, inflation didn’t climb past 3.5 percent. You know the cost of gasoline. But my Homepage was loud with drama and whines. Why? Because the President tweeted badly, spoke badly, and had a bad hairdo. Doomsday! These days, inflation is at 8.5 percent, cost of gasoline is this high, and all other exigencies’ cost shoot/s up. But my Homepage says no problem. Relatively calm. Topics: Will and Chris and Johnny and Amber and Elon and cute dogs. 👈👅👉
Elon Musk bought Twitter. And then people are noisy. What is so big a deal about it? He is rich. He is worth $264.6 billion and counting, so what is $44 billion to him? Those money are not taxpayer’s money meant for Covid relief. Besides, Elon isn’t your partisan demon. He described himself as "half Democrat, half Republican." Why don’t people protest the continuous tossing of the government budget meant for social services to Ukraine’s military firepower? 🗣👤👥

Now academia is categorizing inanimate objects such as chair, garden rake, and lightbulb as male or female or “x.” Meanwhile, 820 million people in the world are hungry, 150 million are homeless, and over 95 percent has health problems. Or around 1-in-7 people globally have one or more mental disorder/s. I am not surprised. 🤨🧐🤪
